About the programme
Designed for students who already code, this track centres on an original AI project. Work with data, algorithms and development tools, then prepare the presentation, video and supporting materials for a competition submission.
The programme introduces the Intel AI Global Impact Festival and other relevant competitions. Entry depends on each event’s requirements and deadlines; completing the course is not a guarantee of selection or an award.
What to expect
- Teaching by Intel AI trainers, university academics and industry practitioners.
- Substantial practical work, project development and presentation preparation.
- Competition guidance certification from Intel and East China Normal University’s national digital literacy and skills training base, as listed in the programme information; confirm current arrangements with the team.
What you’ll study
AI foundations and algorithms
Generative AI, computer vision and natural language processing, supported by Python, development environment setup, probability and statistics. Discuss social challenges and ethics alongside the technical work.
Tools and project development
Use tools such as OpenCV and OpenVINO to collect and process data, create visualisations and evaluate models. Your group will use the results to build and test its own solution.
Competition preparation
Practise explaining the project, making a video and preparing submission materials. Ethical discussion and case analysis support the reasoning behind the technical choices.
Industry and teamwork
Planned laboratory or company visits and discussions with engineers and academics, alongside group communication and project roles.
Programme schedule
The outline below is subject to adjustments. Visits, venues and teaching arrangements will be confirmed in the joining information.
Foundations
AI overview, development environment, Python and the necessary mathematical foundations.
Data and evaluation
Data collection, visualisation, NumPy, models and evaluation.
Computer vision
AI history and social challenges, the project cycle, OpenCV and image classification.
Generative AI and project planning
Applications, image classification and convolutional neural networks.
Models and inference
Further CNN work, pre-trained models, inference and OpenVINO.
Starting the final project
Project planning, data collection and exploration, modelling and evaluation.
Project development
Group project production with guidance.
Presentation materials
Refine the project and prepare the presentation and video.
Final preparation
Final testing, packaging and submission materials.
